Returning with Ruminations

Today I did my usual foraging through the reliable news sources (Google News, Pitch Blog, The Onion) to find an interesting story. Low and behold I found something interesting.

"Campaign finance reports from Maine show that a Kansas Catholic organization headed by Kansas City, Kansas, Archbishop Joseph Naumann was among the largest private contributors to repealing gay marriage in Maine."-The Pitch Blog

Now the thing that I ask is What happened to Seperation of Church and State? And when things like this happen why are we not taxing the churches. When you decide to send money help politics then you should be helping in ALL aspects.

Now before I continue I want to make clear that this is not my Atheism speaking but me putting my ideals aside to bring an argument.

It was released that Naumann gave $10K to the Maine anti same sex marriage front.

To my Catholic readers out there I want you to reply to this question. Is it right for Church organizations to donate huge amounts of money to political organizations while being Tax exempt?

Ben, You missed the point. THe diocese donated to an organization with a poilical agenda, not a politician or to the state. The separation of church and state was put in place to prevent the government from declaring how we may worship or what religion we may belong to. All religions are welcome here. That was not my Catholocism talking either.
