School Budget Cut Affects Teachers

This is an obvious statement but it is true. Bigger class sizes, less faculty is what faces Wyandotte High School and the entire USD #500.

Ken Willard, an English, newspaper, broadcasting and video teacher will have his classes cut down to only English. Even though he co teaches Video he is very important in making the production happen. Newspaper will be reassigned to Mr. Jonathan Hyde, an English Journalism ACT and yearbook teacher. The Full mantle of the Video Production class will be put onto Mr. Kevin Edwards, the Graphic Design teacher.

This is just on example of what will occur. I didn't even mention what will happen to the broadcasting class. It may be non existent next year.

The reason for this is the budget crisis in the state of Kansas. The education funding will be cut 7 million dollars next year. this means that all Kansas high schools will have less money to pay for materials, teachers ETC.

What does this mean?

If less money than already will be available for education then kids do not get as good an education. In turn they do not get the proper education for college. Then less people will get into college and then the higher unemployment will go up.

Opinion? Education should not be cut. USD #500 is in enough trouble that it cannot afford this kind of budget cut.

Summer In DC?

Last week i was told by a teacher about a job opportunity over the summer in DC. The job would be a Page. doesnt that sound fun? it reminds me of when i paged in both Kansas and Missouri.

I am also waiting for some information form my Aunt on jobs in Dayton. I am most likely going to work in Dayton.

Kansas City Metro Gets The Attention It Needs

Or at least Overland Park.

The new Showtime series United States Of Tara takes place In Overland Park. I just stumbled upon the show when checking out the On Demand options On Showtime.

Synopsis:

Tara Gregson is a wife and mother with dissociative identity disorder (DID). After deciding to take a break from her medication to discover the real cause of her disorder, her alternate personalties re-emerge: wild and flirty teenager T, fifties housewife Alice, and male, loud, beer-drinking war vet Buck. Tara is supported by her calm and level-headed husband Max, her somewhat troubled teenage daughter Kate and quirky, good-hearted son Marshall. Her sister, Charmaine, is not so supportive, often expressing her doubt about the validity of Tara's disorder. The show is set in Overland Park, Kansas.

Kyle XY is cancelled

Yesterday TV.com announced that Kyle XY will not be receiving it's 4th season.

After three seasons on ABC Family, it appears that Kyle XY may have finally run out of steam. According to representatives from ABC Family, Kyle XY will be ending its run at the conclusion of the current season. While Kyle XY is on the outs, Greek and Lincoln Heights have been renewed for another season each.

The news of Kyle XY's cancellation first hit the Web via a report from EW.com's Michael Ausiello, who believes that Kyle's slumping ratings may have done it in. The show, ABC Family's first original program, was one of the main reasons ABC Family has turned itself into a promising off-shoot of Disney and ABC. But now with other ABC Family shows--such as The Secret Life of the American Teenager--raising the bar, it appears that Kyle XY is the odd-man out.
